EMERGENCIES: If you have an emergency outside of the above-stated hours please call the after-hours number at 828-648-2376. The Water and Sewer Department has “on-call” workers scheduled to assist 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Water and Sewer is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all storm drainage structures and maintenance to sewer and water lines, including taps and valves, hydrants, and town-owned utility pump stations. This department works hard to keep up the infrastructure of the Town of Canton and takes pride in giving great service to our community.

UTILITY BILL PAYMENT OPTIONS
We offer a variety of options for you to pay your utility bill and they can be found on our Pay My Bill webpage for more details and instructions.
NEW SERVICE OR CHANGE OF SERVICE
If you need to start water service or change service to another location you will need to fill out a Utility Service Application (forms are available in the office) and bring it to Town Hall along with your $50 service fee (cash, check or cc).
The information you will need to provide is:
- Valid driver’s license or valid identification card
- Physical address
- If renting, a copy of your rental agreement|
* If you are renting inside the Town limits you will need to schedule an inspection at the same time you are submitting your application. Inspections are done by the Town at no charge to you.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Town will ONLY turn on water and sewer after 3:00pm each day. Payment must be received NO LATER than 2:30pm for water to be turned on that day. Payments received after 2:30pm will result in your water being turned on the next business day after 3:00pm.
NEW CONNECTIONS
For general questions, to make sure that you meet the zoning requirements prior to the application process, or to apply for approval to connect to the Town of Canton water and sewer system please call Town Hall.
