EMERGENCIES: If you have an emergency outside of the above stated hours please call the Police Department Dispatch at 828-648-2376. The Water and Sewer Department has “on-call” workers scheduled to assist 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Water and Sewer is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all storm drainage structures; maintenance to sewer and water lines, including taps and valves, hydrants and town-owned utility pump stations. This department works hard to keep up the infrastructure of the Town of Canton and takes pride in giving great service to our community.

NEW SERVICE OR CHANGE OF SERVICE
If you need to start water service or change service to another location you will need to come into Town Hall during office hours.
The information you will need to provide is:
- Valid driver’s license or valid identification card
- Physical address
- Copy of the rental agreement (if renting)
- $50 service fee.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Town will ONLY turn on water and sewer at 3:00pm each day. Payment must be received NO LATER than 2:30pm for water to be turned on. Payments received after 2:30pm will result in your water being turned on the following day at 3:00pm.

For general questions to make sure that you meet the zoning requirements prior to the application process please call 828-648-2363.
Please call to make an appointment to come into Town Hall to apply for approval to connect to the Town of Canton water and sewer system. Information required for applications are:
- Plans for construction
- Modular or mobile home plans
- Physical address or for the property
In addition, the Town of Canton and its Water Filter Plant is committed to providing the residents and businesses of the community with clean and reliable water service.
