The Town of Canton offices are located at 58 Park Street and hours of operation are Monday - Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm. The contact number is (828) 648-2363.
The information that you need to bring into the office is a valid driver’s license or identification card, social security number, address for account, if you rent a copy of the lease, and $50.00 service fee. If the property has had water service in the past you can the water service application can be found under water and sewer/new connection link.
You can pay your utility bill at Town Hall either inside or at the drive-thru window Monday-Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm, Mail your payment, or pay by third party at 1 (866) 916-6786 at a fee of $2.50. The Town accept credit cards except for American Express, debit cards, cash, check, or money order for payment.
Contact the Town of Canton at (828) 648-2363 with either a property address or a parcel ID# for information. The Town Code has numerous regulations that must be adhered to in order to receive water and sewer service. Please contact Planning and Zoning before making any plans to see what is allowed, size requirements, and other regulations etc.
If you see a utility leak or unusual amount of water, damage to water meter/hydrant, manhole cover out of place, or anything of this nature please contact the Town of Canton immediately.

Town of Canton taxes can be paid by mail, in the office (by cash, check or debit card (no credit cards), at the drive-thru, or by calling 1 (866) 916-6786 (with a percentage fee).
Tax bills are mailed in October of every year and are due before January 5th without penalty. If you have questions regarding your taxes please contact (828) 648-2363 for more information.
The Town of Canton contracts the collection of household garbage and recycling with Henson’s Waste Service and you have a set day for your normal pick-up. You may contact Henson's Waste Service at (828) 648-9401 or Canton Town Hall at (828) 648-2363 to determine the day your refuse is picked up.
All complaints or questions regarding your service should be directed to Henson's Waste Service at (828) 648-9401.
If you have junk, appliances, and/or yard waste you must contact the Town Hall at (828) 648-2363 to schedule a free curb side pick-up or submit a work order from our website www.cantonnc.com.
(Please note: If you hire a contractor to remove trees, limbs, or debris, then the contractor will be required to remove the waste. The Town is not equipped for commercial size jobs).
The Town WILL NOT pick-up any construction debris. This debris must be taken to the Haywood County landfill at White Oak. For information regarding this please contact (828) 627-8042.
If you would like to rent/book an event at the Colonial Theatre, Annex, or Armory, you would contact Denise Holcombe at (828) 235-2760 for determine availability and pricing.
If you would like to book/rent a shed, stage, pool party, Camp Hope or other event spaces you would do so by contacting the Town Hall at (828) 648-2363 for availability and pricing.

Please contact the Planning and Zoning Department at (828) 648-2363 to find out what is allowable in the zone you live in as well as, setback requirements etc. Once you get approval you then will receive a letter from the Town of Canton to take to the Haywood County Inspections Department to pull all required permits. (Please note: If you construct anything that is not in compliance with the Town Code of Ordinances and/or did not obtain necessary permits, you will be required to remove the new item at your cost, so please get prior approval).
