Chestnut Mountain Park Public Survey

Introduction
The Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy (SAHC) is working to acquire 448 acres at Chestnut Mountain in Haywood County. The acquisition will permanently protect sources of clean water and forested habitat in an important wildlife corridor. The property’s easy-to-access location off of US Hwy 19/23 just east of the Town of Canton also presents possibilities for future public outdoor recreation.

The Town of Canton and Haywood County are working together on potential outdoor recreation plans for the property, with support from the Cruso Endowment. This survey is a part of the public input process that will help identify the best uses and highest outdoor recreational needs for the area. Recreational activities will be ones that work with the conservation of the property’s natural resources while providing healthy opportunities for our citizens to get outdoors. Your input is greatly appreciated.
