Boil Water Advisory Update – October 5, 2024
UPDATE – October 5, 2024: Due to a 6″ inch water line break the Town of Canton ONLY will remain on a boil water advisory until tomorrow morning. This does not affect Clyde as they have switched water sources. Please check here for updates on the status
For all water consumers of the Town of Canton, in Haywood County due to damages from Hurricane Helene. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increase the potential for back siphonage and the introduction of bacteria into the water system.
Therefore, the Division of Water Resources advises that when water is restored consumers boil all water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation) or use bottled water.
Vigorous boiling for one (1) minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.
